I am developing an inspection device using cheap microscope USB cameras
off Amazon. I've bought about twelve cameras now (endoscopes too), and
have found that quality and features are all over the map.
When I get one that works, it usually works well until I unplug, and
plug it back in, or do other strange things. Some of them will not
allow manual exposure control. Various driver features are missing or
don't work as claimed. Others magnify too much, or too little.
My distance from lens to target is 15cm, and the target is 15mm
diameter. I need the camera to image about 20mm width at that distance,
meaning that I'd like my target to fill 75% of the resulting image. For
resolution, 640x480 is plenty for me.
I don't mind paying more for a camera, but I can't afford to go out and
buy a bunch of cameras to evaluate. A price under $50 is good, $100 is
possible if it's really good quality. I'm also open to using a camera
module.
Does anyone here know of a good quality UVC compliant camera with these
specs?
