Hi Laurent
The camera Genius-FaceCam-320X is not present (April 20, 2015) on the list of supported devices
(http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/#download).
Its ID is: 0458:708a
The camera was positively identify as the UVC camera.
It final application shall be Skype but was tested with cheese.
It works, out of the box, on SL-6.6-x.64 with the uvcvideo driver and cheese.
The SL-6.6-x.64 is simultaneously a host for VMWare-v10.
The camera does not work in virtualized guest Mint17.1 (aka Trusty-Tahar Ubuntu 14.04).
But, it works inside of an other virtualized WinXP on the same host,
so presumably the problem resides not within the WMWare's virtualized USB pipe.
The uvcvideo drivers in host ( SL-6.6-x.64) and guest (Mint17.1) apparently differ.
Attached please find:
1 Debugging messages send by uvcvideo to the Mint's17.1 kernel log.
2 Mint's lsusb -d 0458:708a
3 Excerpts from Mint's dmesg
4 Mint's modinfo uvcvideo
5 SL-6.6's modinfo uvcvideo (differs from Mint17.1)
6 Manufacturer's flyer about the Genius-FaceCam-320X
I hope that this set may allow you to understand the failure
and devise remedy.
It must be a close call, as camera works with your driver in the host.
With regards and greetings
Peter
