Hello,

I have webcam(microsoft LifeCam Cinema), which support video resolution 1280x800 and photo resolution 2880x1620.

In programs like "cheese" I only see resolutions up to 1280x800.

Do any of you know how to capture images with resolution of 2880x1620 = high resolution pictures from a webcam ?

Best regards

Dear Havard,

the LifeCam Cinema should have a CMOS OV9712 sensor, which supports up to 1280x800 pixels. If you want higher resolution, you can scale the image, but there won't be more image information than the sensor has physical pixels.

Cheers,
Lars.

Hello Lars,

And thank you for a fast and good answer !

I need the tube-shape of the webcam, and are looking for high resolution.
Do you know the max resolution og the MS Lifecam Studio ?

Where can I the information of max resolution og a webcam ? For the
LifeCam Cinema camera I notice webpages claim higher resolution, ie.
https://www.komplett.no/microsoft-lifecam-cinema/768640#!tab:extra for
images.

Best regards

Håvard

According to the datasheet from MS website:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/8/6/78695FFE-D786-46A1-BA24-964E97858CC0/TDS_LifeCamCinema.pdf

"Still Image: Up to 5 megapixel (2880x1620 pixels, interpolated) photos*"

In this case read "interpolated" as "scaled".

In this case read "interpolated" as "scaled".
And as it is a colour image, even at 1280x800 the colours will already
have been interpolated to create the colour image from the raw data.
Making the images larger will not give you any more data.
