[linux-uvc-devel] devices not listed - one works one does not

As per www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ "If your UVC device is not listed
below, please report it to the Linux UVC development mailing list."

LSUSB on my Compaq Presario A900 notebook displays the webcam as:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 04f2:b057 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd integrated
USB webcam
The webcam works properly but "04f2:b057" does not appear in the list of
the web page referred to above.

ALSO

My Samsung Gamer NP700G7C-T02TH notebook contains an unrecognized web
cam which Samsung support informs me is a MCNEX SC_20FHL11146M sensor
and as best I can determine, uses an Alcor Micro AU3823 controller chip.
I believe the device ID should be 058f:3823, which does not exist in the
list of the above mentioned web page, although there is an entry for an
Alcor Micro 058f:3820.

The Samsung notebook is relatively new and I'm wondering if I just need
to wait for a UVC update to make my webcam work in Linux?

Thank you

Could you please, for both devices (including the working one), provide
the respective info from
$ lsusb -d VID:PID -v > lsusb.log

For the non-working one, please follow the instructions in the FAQ:
http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/faq/

to assist the list with troubleshooting.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Better to hope for a workaround from the
list first. :-)

Thanks,
